Scooter Braun prides himself as a morally upright “good guy,” but as we dig deeper, his associations with shady characters seem to contradict his supposed “goodness.”

NOTE: For this section, we had a difficult time finding multiple verified sources with these affiliations, which could suggest that there’s a media scrub in order to keep Scooter’s image as clean as possible.

Harvey Weinstein

Scooter Braun executive produced The Giver (2014), a film that was distributed by The Weinstein Company.

Despite being affiliated with Weinstein in the past, Scooter issued an open letter to “the good guys” at the height of the Me Too movement in regard to Weinstein’s allegations of sexual abuse and misconduct.

He has yet to address his executive producer credit on the film and working with Weinstein in the past.

Scooter Braun is known to be friends with Dr. Luke, a producer who was accused of inflicting verbal, sexual and emotional abuse against Kesha. In 2015, Scooter Braun was listed as management for male-songwriter Fancy in a joint venture with Dr. Luke.

David Bolno

David Bolno is Scooter’s business partner. According to Insider, a former manager said this about Bolno and Scooter’s relationship:

"I think he has always been Scooter's executioner. He's the bad guy when he needs to be, and I think that allows Scooter to sort of play the good guy. Bolno doesn't really do anything that Scooter hasn't already sanctioned or approved from a business point of view."In March 2023, an up-and-coming Colombian singer, Camila Sterling, was found dead in the bathtub of Bolno’s Miami hotel suite. According to Bolno, he had not been in the room since 4:30 a.m. and she was pronounced dead within nine hours at 1:09 p.m.

According to Bolno, she was there to record music.

Miami PD did name Bolno as a “person of interest,” but closed the investigation.

Allegedly, Camila and Bolno were seeing each other (Bolno has a wife and two kids), with Camila calling Bolno her “boyfriend” in text messages and voice memos according to Insider. He had also paid $140,000 to rent a condo in Miami for her and was allegedly creating a record label just to support Camila’s career.

As of the time of writing this exposé, Sterling’s family does not know what really happened to her. However, several sources say, “within the upper industry crowd, ‘everyone knows what really happened that night.’” Another person who worked for Sterling said, "There's people who will probably crank me for life for talking about this,” when BI came to knock at her door about it.

David Geffen

Scooter Braun has addressed Geffen as “his godfather” and is said to idolize David by Bloomberg. He is considered to be Scooter’s mentor. At 19, Scooter read a book on Geffen, showing his idolization of Geffen stretched decades.

David Geffen was implicated by Buzzfeed News as having been involved with Digital Entertainment Network (DEN), whose founder is known to be interested in younger, underaged boys. DEN has hosted a lot of parties involving underaged boys and Geffen was implicated to have been at said parties. However, there is no current proof that underaged boys were present when Geffen was there or if Geffen was accused of any wrongdoing.

Most recently, Geffen, Braun and HYBE came together in a joint venture to find the next “global girl group” under Dream Academy in 2023.

He also has a history of taking credit for things he was not involved in, and only selectively protecting POC artists only if they’re profitable.

HYBE built this company on the blood, sweat and tears of their artists’ fans who have put in immense financial efforts to make their artists successful from the ground up.

Additionally, their biggest act to date, BTS, are known for their political lyricism and activism by the general public and their fans. They have visited the UN, have UNICEF campaigns, and even visited the White House to talk to President Joe Biden about anti-Asian racism.

Having Scooter Braun as CEO is the antithesis of what BTS and by extension, what all HYBE artists stand for, and HYBE is deliberately turning a blind eye to continue to line their pockets in the midst of an active genocide in Gaza.
